One Killed, Seven Injured In Mass Maryland Shooting (Developing)

One person was killed and seven others hospitalized with various injuries following a mass shooting in Baltimore.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, officers were called to the 1300 block of North Spring Street, where there were multiple reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers from the Baltimore Police Department found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, and later, more victims walked into area hospitals for evaluation of similar injuries.

In total, either shooting victims were identified by officers, including a 36-year-old man who was pronounced dead by first responders.

According to police, the victims include a 36-year-old man, a 46-year-old man, a 23-year-old man, a 40-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman, a 45-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and an unidentified man.

Their conditions range from critical to stable condition.

"Tonight, Baltimore is grappling with the impacts of another mass shooting event that has taken the life of one Baltimorean and irreparably changed several others," Mayor Brandon Scott said in a statement. "Investigators from the Baltimore Police Department will diligently work to find and hold those who are responsible accountable for this horrific act of violence." 

Homicide detectives are now investigating the incident.

"These tragic acts of violence - which are still too common in our city - are only possible because of the continued ease of access to guns on our streets," Scott continued.

"We cannot acknowledge this tragedy without acknowledging the role that the proliferation of guns plays in endangering our communities." 

No information about a shooter or shooters has been released.
